WP1. MATERIALS SYNTHESIS AND COMPONENT OPTIMIZATION

Objectives: (i) Development of innovative carbon materials and metal oxides for electrodes of Li-S battery and supercapacitors. (ii) Development of gel electrolyte membranes. (iii) Synthesis and characterization of single-ion conduction electrolyte membranes

Deliverables: (i) 500 g optimized carbon xerogel. (ii) 50 g sulphur-CMK-3 carbon. (iii) Gel electrolyte based on IL (5×5 cm2 ,thickness of 50 μm, s=1×10-3 Scm-1). (iv) Hybrid SLIC-SPE (5×5 cm2, thickness of 50 μm, s=5×10-3 Scm-1)

WP2. DESIGNING OF SMART TEXTILE ELECTRODES AND INTEGRATED ARCHITECTURES

Objective: Development of flexible electrodes for Li-S batteries and supercapacitors

Deliverables: 20-50 cm2 electrodes for Li-S battery and supercapacitors

WP3. SC AND Li-S BATTERY CELL FABRICATION, TESTING AND SAFETY ISSUES

Objective: Design of cells for Li-S battery and SC

Deliverables: Li-S battery with energy density 500 Wh/kg (active materials) at ca.2.5 V and stable for at least 1000 cycles. Asymmetric flexible SC with a specific capacitance of 150 F/g (active material for one electrode) at 1.6 V and 90% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles.

WP4. PROOF-OF-CONCEPT OF Li-S BATTERY AND SC HYBRID SYSTEM

Objective: System prototype demonstration in operational environment

Deliverables: Supercapacitor of 5 x 6 cm, 30 cm2, @ at 1.6 V, 10 Farad. Battery of 3 x 5 cm, 15 cm2, @ at 2.5 V, 400 Wh/l (active material). Proof-of-concept of Li-S battery/supercapacitor hybrid system

WP5. DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION ACTIVITIES

Objective: Give visibility to the outcome of project. Exploitation of the innovative results for the benefit of all interested parties

Deliverables: Scientific publications in high impact Journals (at least 6). Possible patents analysis (at least 2), conference communications (at least 12)
